Do Gene Selectionism Approaches in Evolutionary Theory Entail Genetic Determinism?

Yet many still fail to see that genetic determinism in evolutionary theory cannot be directly applied to an individual. Consequently there are advocates both for and against genetic determinism within an individual. This is rather like fighting over the pronunciation of potato whilst actually talking of an orange i.e. it is irrelevant and confused use of ill-fitted terminology.
Genic selection is but a part in the grand process of natural selection. Our past is encoded within our genes; study of our genes provides answers to adaptations within the body. Genetic determinism applied in evolutionary theory (where it only should be applied), is so applied because genes are heritable. They have born witness to un-written history and provide a trace of our past - it is not the only determinate in the individual; that is another story. Genic selection is a label of a process. Gene selection entails genetic determinism within evolutionary theory because one cannot (as far as I know) transport themselves back in time to view evolution in real-time; but the genes - they provide a place to start in understanding our past, our present and help us understand where the heck we may be heading.
