Ivan Meštrovič Grgur Ninski statue
Both sculpted one and the sculptor are really famous and historicaly important people. Ivan Mestrovič was a sculptor, one of the best in that time, and when communists invaded in Croatia, he went to America, where his work got really famous. Otherwise, Grgur Ninski was 10 century bishop, croatian ikon, thanks to him croatian culture, language and people self -esteem got better. He was like Ernests Gliks for us – latvians, because, thanks to Gliks, just like thanks to Ninski, the Bible was translated and writen ir local people language. There is a belief – if you rub Ninski thumb, you will be lucky for the rest of your life.

Croatian food and beverages
Traditional Croatian food has some similarity with Italian, Austrian, Hungarian, and Turkish food. Yet, Croatian dishes have their own distinct interpretation, and taste.
The must try food in Croatia is Black Risotto. It is made from cuttlefish or squid, olive oil, garlic, red wine and squid ink, which gives an intense seafood flavour and black colour. Popular all along Croatia’s coastline, this dish will turn your mouth and teeth black – but it’s worth it.
Meals in Split and nearby islands are good quality and prices are reasonable. Depending on what you want to eat, international or local Dalmatian cuisine, average meal costs from 40 to 80 Kuna (Euro 5 to 11).
