So it is seen how the arguments of Marx and Engels in favour of the abolition of private property rights are presented: "In a sense, the theory of the Communists may be summed up in a single sentence: Abolition of private property" . This is because the foundations of capitalism are the private ownership of property and industry. Capitalism, Marx argues, is the cause of the 'exploitation of the many by the few'. Capitalism can be seen to also benefit all members of society through the freedom of competition that prevents any one company taking advantage of the consumer by charging high prices. Yet the consumer with the money to accumulate material goods is always the bourgeoisie which results in the proletariat going without. Under Communist rule Marx and Engels state that all property would be state owned, meaning that each citizen owns an equal share of that property. This includes public services such as healthcare. While I do not agree that privately owned services which exist as an alternative for the rich to the public services are necessarily a drain on the community facility, I do however agree with Marx and Engels in the sense that it is morally wrong to uphold these services as they deny the freedom of choice of better services to the proletariat who cannot afford to go pay. …
