Healthcare in Latvia

Healthcare system in Latvia is not so good as it`s supposed to be. It`s all ok with ambulance and their work. But our problem is with primary healthcare system. All system is like a big bureaucratic union. To suffer form a disease in Latvia is very inconvenient even when you learn in school, and I can tell it from my own experience.
Well this is how it works. When you fall ill, on the same day you must go to your family doctor to get your sick-list, otherwise if you don`t get this sick-list you must visit your school or if you are working you must go to your job. OK, if you decided not to go to school or work, you have two choices – to go to your family doctor yourself, or you can phone doctor and arrange a home visit. The first choice ofcourse is cheaper, it costs about 50 santim. But unfortunately, if you aren`t a private clinic patient, that`s impossible to do because then you must have been signed up for a visit few weeks before that, because queues in outpatient departments are very long.
