Latvia’s Occupation in 1940

Till nowadays there are no common opinions about Latvia’s occupation in 1940. I want to discuss this problem, because there are a lot of events - situation before a Second World War, relationship between a Germany, Russia, and a USA. It was very interesting event that made us to think about our history. There are no doubts, that occupation is criminal and illegal action in international politics. But in a fact it was hard to talk about international politics – relationship between all worlds countries; because situation between main states shoved that there would be 2nd World War. Latvia in this time was in very hard period – our state couldn’t did many things, this mean, that Latvia was limited in many political actions, especially in international politics. The main reason, why Latvia was so weak in international and state’s politics, was a low level of democracy in this time period (1940). Now, almost for every country democracy is equipment that is the most humanitarian for everyone and of course democracy now is more developed than in a 1940. Baltic States take a just small part of the world and Western countries were busy with Deutschland sedation politic (Western countries were trying to solve the problem with Germans aggressive action in 1st World War.), that’s why a Baltic States problem, including Latvia’s problem too, wasn’t actual. It is very important to summary some historians thoughts, that Ulmanis – Latvian’s leader – was responsible for Latvia’s occupation. I just can agree, because a leader of state always is responsible for everything – state’s equipment, inhabitants and international politics. But there is other opinion too, that Ulmanis was a feeble against the Soviet Union. Latvia didn’t have so much physical power for fight with Russians. But now it is too late to punish someone. As I mentioned before, there are a lot of opinions about 1940 that should be discussed.
There are many different opinions about Latvia’s occupation in 1940 that are proved by many experts, but not big number of people are interested in these prove. People want to see true, because there are a lot of people, which remember this day and have different opinion with historians. Not just Latvian’s had different opinion from Russians, but other countries too, because this is international politics and almost everyone was concerning in this action. For each country there is own state history , that could be interpretive in other ways – some folks thought that war was bed for them, but other thought, that war helped to proved something . Each nationality has its own interpretation. It is hard to make a common valuation. There are no common legal explanations. We just can agree that it was a crime committed against our nation and our state.
